National Institute of Science and Technology for Brazilian Football Studies
The National Institute of Science and Technology Brazilian Football Studies (INCT Futebol) was approved in December 2022 based on CNPq Call No. 58/2022 and began its activities in January 2023.
Currently the institute is organized around four lines of research and action: a) Community and amateur football; b) Women’s, indigenous, Paralympic and LGBTQIA+ football; c) Production, careers and migrations of footballers; d) Media, fans and anti-racist movements in football.
The main objective of INCT Futebol is to train and bring together researchers, from different universities and different areas of training, who prioritize studying and researching Brazilian football.
Still in this sense, our goals aim to (i) establish partnerships with other institutions, whether public and/or private, from civil society that are interested in Brazilian football; (ii) internationalize discussions and products that address the topic; (iii) disseminate and popularize academic and scientific productions that make reference to Brazilian football.

INCT Futebol is coordinated by Carmen Rial, from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and Mariane Pisani, from the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI).
